Americans have on average gotten much richer over the past several decades than they were in previous generations.
The inconvenient truth, however, is that there has been no meaningful rise in the average level of happiness.
In 1972, 30 percent of Americans said they were very happy, and the average American enjoyed about $25,000 (in today’s dollars) of our national income. By 2004, the percentage of very happy Americans stayed virtually unchanged at 31 percent, while the share of national income skyrocketed to $38,000 (a 50 percent real increase in average income).

Comparison of Happiness Vs Money
Which one is more important to you, money or happiness? We think that money can bring happiness and solve our most of the problems but does it really bring happiness and peace? This article is about discussion on happiness vs money and how we can manage with it to bring peace and harmony in life.
We all need money to live but more money does not lead to greater happiness. It would be stupid to want to be poor and pretend that money is bad or unnecessary. At the same time, you shouldn’t make money your goal in life. Money doesn’t necessarily bring you happiness, although it can contribute a lot by sheltering you from need, and providing you with peace-of-mind.
Money is important to help us live our life to the fullest. But at the same time, an increase in its inflow does not bring proportional happiness with it. You need to be aware of this.
Aaron Karo, comedian and author of the forthcoming book, "Ruminations on Twentysomething Life" says, “If you want to draw a line in the sand, happiness is having enough money so you don’t have to move back in with your parents."

Can Money Buy Happiness and Why Rich People Are Not Usually Happier?
It is very common question which humans are asking from decades. Because if money can buy happiness then rich people should be the happier but usually the case is different.
How to know if money can really help us buy happiness?
Let's read some facts, figures and survey reports if money can buy happiness, and how money effects our lives and why rich people are not happier than the poor ones.
These survey reports or finding are not the end of theories but it can teach us an some important life lessons about money, and happiness.
We assume that a sportier car, a bigger house, a better-paying job, or that dress will bring us joy because, well, they did in the past, right?
Their results: The rich are not lazing on the beach at St. Tropez for six months of the year, no matter what you see in the glossy photos in mutual fund ads. They're stuck in traffic, worrying about their kids and spending long hours at the office.
Studies reveal another toll that money takes.
An international team of researchers led by Jordi Quoidbach report in the August 2010 issue of Psychological Science that, although wealth may grant us opportunities to purchase many things, it simultaneously impairs our ability to enjoy those things.
Their first study, conducted with adult employees of the University of Liège in Belgium showed that the wealthier the workers were, the less likely they were to display a strong capacity to savor positive experiences in their lives. Furthermore, simply being reminded of money (by being exposed to a picture of a huge stack of Euros) dampened their savoring ability.

- Americans have on average gotten much richer over the past several decades than they were in previous generations. The inconvenient truth, however, is that there has been no meaningful rise in the average level of happiness.
- In 1972, 30 percent of Americans said they were very happy, and the average American enjoyed about $25,000 (in today’s dollars) of our national income. By 2004, the percentage of very happy Americans stayed virtually unchanged at 31 percent, while the share of national income skyrocketed to $38,000 (a 50 percent real increase in average income).
- The story is the same in other developed countries. In Japan, real average income was six times higher in 1991 than it was in 1958. During the post–World War II period, Japan was transformed at unprecedented speed from a poor nation into one of the world’s richest countries. But the average happiness of a Japanese citizen, measured on a scale of 1–4, stayed exactly the same at 2.7.
- In some countries, there is even some evidence that economic growth can create unhappiness. This is generally the case for nations experiencing rapid and chaotic development and thus opportunities for great wealth for the first time.
- Studies show that lottery winners, heiresses, and the 100 richest Americans are only slightly more satisfied than the guy toiling for his pay in the generic office-park cubicle. Still, mere mortals find it difficult to allow that an extra digit or two on the paycheck won't put a permanent smile on our faces.
We assume that a sportier car, a bigger house, a better-paying job, or that dress will bring us joy because, well, they did in the past, right?
- Not really, says Daniel Gilbert, a Harvard psychology professor and the author of Stumbling on Happiness. "Research reveals that memory is less like a collection of photographs than it is like a collection of impressionist paintings rendered by an artist who takes considerable license with his subject," Gilbert writes. We forget that the new-car high deflated well before our first trip to the mechanic, and the raise came with stressful late nights at the office and a steeper tax tab.
- Money doesn't buy happiness, say a couple of Princeton University researchers who found the link between cash and a good mood to be "greatly exaggerated and mostly an illusion.''
- Rich people spend more time in high-stress activities than people with modest resources or poor people, they found.
- Those with the highest incomes spend more time working, worrying, shopping, taking care of the kids and exercising, and less time relaxing with a book or an uplifting news story (like this one).
- At Princeton, economist Alan Krueger and psychologist Daniel Kahneman measured how people of different income levels spend their time, and which of these activities are enjoyable. (Though he's a psychologist, Kahneman won the 2002 Nobel Prize in economics.)
Their results: The rich are not lazing on the beach at St. Tropez for six months of the year, no matter what you see in the glossy photos in mutual fund ads. They're stuck in traffic, worrying about their kids and spending long hours at the office.
- "The belief that high income is associated with good mood is widespread but mostly illusory,'' the researchers announce today in the journal Science.
- "People with above-average income are relatively satisfied with their lives but are barely happier than others in moment-to-moment experience, tend to be more tense, and do not spend more time in particularly enjoyable activities.''
- Pulling in the big bucks makes people more likely to say they are happy with their lives overall -- whether they are young or old, male or female, or living in cities or remote villages, the survey of more than 136,000 people in 132 countries found.
- Another survey shows that a key element of what many people consider happiness -- positive feelings -- is much more strongly affected by factors other than cold, hard cash, such as feeling respected, being in control of your life and having friends and family to rely on in a pinch.
- "Yes, money makes you happy -- we see the effect of income on life satisfaction is very strong and virtually ubiquitous and universal around the world," said Ed Diener, a professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Illinois who led the study. "But it makes you more satisfied than it makes you feel good. Positive feelings are less affected by money and more affected by the things people are doing day to day."
Studies reveal another toll that money takes.

How to identify the sources of stress and manage it?
Stress management starts with identifying the sources of stress in your life. To identify your true sources of stress, look closely at your habits, attitude, and excuses.
Do you explain away stress as temporary (“I just have a million things going on right now”) even though you can’t remember the last time you took a breather?
Do you define stress as an integral part of your work or home life (“Things are always crazy around here”) or as a part of your personality (“I have a lot of nervous energy, that’s all”).
Do you blame your stress on other people or outside events, or view it as entirely normal and unexceptional?
Until you accept responsibility for the role you play in creating or maintaining it, your stress level will remain outside your control.
How we become victom of stress?
There are many causes and reasons of being stressed among which may be:
Life Crisis: Research has proven that the experiences that we have encountered over the years are likely to cause diseases which do not manifest until later on in life.
The death of a spouse or a truly loved one causes the highest level of stress, followed by divorce and a marital separation.
The conflicts intertwined with relationships with people close to you cause you the most stress.
Occupational Stress: As humans, more of our time is spent working compared to any other awake activity.
Occupational stress is a result of a factor or a combinations of factors at work. It impacts the worker, disrupting their psychological or physical wellbeing. It can be caused by a number of factors including work overload and stimulus underload. Work overload results from the burden of excess work. It may also be caused by the ambiguity of the task required of the worker. Stimulus underload happens when there are not enough tasks for the worker to undertake. It can cause job dissatisfation, post traumatic stress syndrome, and increase the level of cholesterol and the heart rate.
Social Networks Disintegration: Relationships have been proved to be one of the more important aspects of our human life, especially to our psychological and physical well being.
Thus if someone who you truly cherish passes away, your social network begins to disintegrate as feelings of loneliness start to take over. This is because as humans, we need the warmth and love that relationships bring to us and the removal of one of these relationships can be heartbreaking.
What happens to you when you are stressed?
Diseases - Stress has been the reason for 50-80% of diseases.
Insomnia - The inability to fall asleep.
Hypertension - High blood pressure, which can lead to lethal complications.
Aging - Research has proven that people age faster when they experience more stress.

The Ride of bike, our life and CREATOR
Do you love riding bicycle?
Do you feel there is a resemblance beteen riding bike and our lives?
The story or parable I am going to share with you is a motivational writing and this piece of post would encourage us to think and feel deeply about our life and our 'CREATOR'
There is a lot to learn at this motivational story.
'The Bike Ride'
At first I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited Heaven or Hell when I die. He was out there sort of like the President. I recognized His picture when I saw it, but I didn't really know Him.
But later on when I recognized my Higher Power, it seemed as though life was rather like a bike ride; but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that God was in the back helping me pedal. I don't know just when it was that He suggested we change places, but life has not been the same since . . . life with my Higher Power, that is. God makes life exciting.
When I had control, I knew the way. It was rather boring, but predictable. It was the shortest distance between two points. But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up mountains, and through rocky places and at breakneck speeds. It was all I could do to hang on! Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!"
I worried and was anxious and asked, "Where are You taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure; and when I'd say, "I'm scared, " He'd lean back and touch my hand. He took me to people with gifts that I needed, gifts of healing, acceptance, and joy. They gave me their gifts to take on my journey; our journey, God's and mine.
And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away. They're extra baggage, too much weight." So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still our burden was light.
I did not trust Him at first, in control of my life. I thought he'd wreck it. But He knew bike secrets, knew how to make it bend to take sharp corners, jump to clear high places filled with rocks, fly to shorten scary passages.
And I'm learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places, and I'm beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my face with my delightful constant companion, my Higher Power.
And when I'm sure I can't do any more, He just smiles and says, "PEDAL!"

Rainbow - A natural light show on earth
“Life is like a rainbow. You need both the sun and the rain to make its colors appear.”
An Irish blessing quote is:
“May God give you...For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer.”
Grace E. Easley
I'll paint you a rainbow to hang on the wall,
to brighten your heart when the gray shadows fall.
On a canvas of joy outlasting the years,
with a soft brush of sweetness to dry all your tears.
I'll paint you a rainbow with colors of smiles
That glow with sincerity over the miles.
On a palette of words I will tenderly blend
Tones into treasures of sunlight and wind.
I'll paint you a rainbow that reaches so wide,
Your sights and your sorrows will vanish inside,
And deep in the center of each different hue,
A memory fashioned especially for you.
So lift up your eyes, for suspended above,
A rainbow designed by the fingers of love...
Source of poem: "Inspiration Peak"
* “Have faith in your dreams and someday your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep believing, the dream that you wish will come true.”

Stay healthy by identifying your genetic health risks

Everyone wants to stay healthy to enjoy life for long but as many diseases are hereditary it is difficult to stay away from in a fit form always.
Now scientific research has changed the scenario of hereditary diseases as it is now possible to look inside the DNA to uncover personal, family and historical records. By identifying your genetic risks and discover your ancestry you can be more conscious about the future risks to your health.
DNA: DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other organisms. Nearly every cell in a person’s body has the same DNA.
Why we should think about having a DNA test?
'A Gene SNP DNA Screening Analysis examines your DNA to help make the dietary and lifestyle changes best suited for your particular needs, based upon individualized gene screening.'
Your health is a result of interactions between your genes and lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, stress, smoking and alcohol. It is your genetic make-up that determines which nutrients are used and how they are used; the way toxins are removed, what happens to any waste products and how efficient and effective these key processes are within the body. However, by adjusting your lifestyle, you can have a great impact on how your genes work and compensate for areas in which your genes are not functioning at an optimal level.
The Link between Genes and Disease
Many diseases have roots in our genes. Genes-through the proteins they encode-determine how efficiently we process foods, how effectively we detoxify poisons and how vigorously we respond to infections. More than 4,000 diseases are thought to stem from mutated genes inherited from one’s mother and/or father. When a gene contains a mutation, the protein encoded by the gene will be abnormal. Some protein changes are insignificant, while others are disabling. Common disorders such as heart disease, cancer, and asthma arise from a complex interplay among multiple genes and exposure to factors in the environment.
* Pathway Genomics launches Personal DNA Test for $249.
* DNA Ancestry Test
To know more: How It Works
These genetics test will reveal your predisposition to cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and hundreds of other health conditions.

Take Charge of Your Financial Life
Distressing situations and dilemmas force us towards misuse of our crdit cards. The result is hingh debts and stress-ful life due to increasing loans and your low credit card score.
If you want to take charge of your financial life, you should learn money management and budget techniques. This learning would be beneficial for a secured financial future for you and for your kids also. According to experts, kids learn to handle money from their parents or sometimes in school. If you want to bring up a savvy kid, you need to be a good example for your kids. Some parents think that their kids are too small to learn about money management basics. Experts say it's never too early.
Tips helping you to take charge of your financial life:
Most debtors just want to wipe their debts out, they look for some services or companies which promise to remove their debts. But somehow they forget to analyze the reasons of their debts. It may be rather uncomfortable to face those factors that lead you to such distressing situations, but it's really essential if you want to get control of your spending.
It's mostly true that a vast majority of credit card users don't know where their money goes. How much do you spend on food every month? What about other expenses? Do you have a monthly budget? At first glance, these questions seem to be no big deal, but in reality they happen to be crucial.
.When purchasing things with credit cards, we may not even notice how much we spend. According to psychologists, the problem lies in the perception of plastics we use almost every day. When doing credit shopping, some customers don't feel like they spend real money. This is especially true when it comes to impulsive shoppers. They really enjoy the process of buying, but they don't realize how painful it may be to get the monthly credit statement afterwards.
Keeping a sort of spending diary will definitely help you see where your money goes. You can also create your family budget. It should be easy-to-follow and realistic. Plus, this budget should help you get your financial goals. Let's say you plan a dream vacation to some exotic location. You'd better put aside money each month so that you've got enough funds to finance your trip.
You also need to understand how much income you can work with and thus create your own spending plan. For example, pay essentials first, then set aside some money for food, clothes, entertainment, etc.
If you are an active shopper, you may put aside some money for non-essentials. It also can be a good idea to apply for a good cash back card. The wonderful thing about these plastics is that you can get really great discounts on eligible purchases. Thus, you can accumulate more rewards that can bring you more benefits in future.
Selecting the right credit offer is another rule of thumb for those who want to get control of their spending. Why carry a card with high fees or a sky-high credit rates? You can always find a good deal for your score rating. All you need to do is to browse through plastic money offers online and pick out the one that suits you most.
Tip: The financial specialists say that it is extremely important to be careful with your first credit card! When you apply for a credit card for the first time, you may feel that you have free money! You can simply swipe your credit card and the cashier will give you all your purchases! Sounds very nice, doesn't it? But if you abuse your first credit card, you will be buried up to your neck with late fees and your credit score will defiantly go down! That's why it is extremely important to be disciplined with your credit card from the first day of usage!

Share your spoon with others
I love reading books and even working at computer and writing posts at my blogs, I keep on reading about variety of topics. Most of the time I try to share those worth of writing with my readers also. I like the moral stories, quotes, and parables which teach us lessons to make our life better, to make ourselves better humans.
A few days ago one of my brother sent me this text with the title "7%"
I was first amazed to see the title, and thought may be it is about some facts and figures about any topic, but the content was really very impressing and meaningful. It is about sharing and after reading just decide either you are sharing your spoon with othesrs or not?

" 7%"
A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said,
'Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.'
The Lord led the holy man to two doors.
He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished.
They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful. But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.
The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
The Lord said, 'You have seen Hell.'
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one.
There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy man said, 'I don't understand.'
It is simple,' said the Lord. 'It requires but one skill. You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.'

Learn the benefits of fasting for your health
"Humans live on one-quarter of what they eat; on the other three-quarters lives their doctor."--Egyptian pyramid inscription, 3800 B.C.
There is no doubt that eating more brings more illness and diseases and on the other hand eating less and with limitations according to health and nutrition guidelines can lead to a healthy life. There is a good effect of fasting on our vigour and health.
fasting.com is from FASTING CENTER INTERNATIONAL, INC., which is internet's premier site to provide the information about fasting from 1995. They charge money from customers, but if you want to know only about "fasting" then this is a good source of information about this topic.
Why fasting is important?
To regain optimum health, happiness and healing power through the scientific practice of:
1- Fasting to remove unnecessary weight the natural way, plus learning how to keep it off for the rest of your life (please note that half of all Fasting Center International clients, on seven continents, are not fasting to lose weight);
2- Fasting to remove the 5-to-10-lb. inner, toxic waste dump* now polluting the average adult's cell, tissue and organ storage areas (chemical toxins, heavy metals, drugs, uneliminated metabolic wastes, excessive cholesterol and triglycerides in the bloodstream, arterial plaque, intestinal parasites, etc.);
3- Fasting to regain the energy you may previously have enjoyed (perhaps when you were more athletic);
4- Fasting to elevate yourself out of the clouded consciousness most spend their entire life in (unwittingly), up into the stratosphere of human potential;
5- Fasting to heighten mental clarity and all your senses, allowing you to see your life's options in much clearer perspective, and then act upon them wisely;
6- Fasting to enhance your innate wisdom, spirituality, faith and human kindness, and
7- Fasting to move yourself back toward your life's birthright potential of optimal health, increasing your happiness and healing power as you scientifically reset your body's odometer and greatly enhance your quality of life!
According to "Washington Post" research into "26,000-plus popular diets which have come and gone in the U.S. over the past 70 years," concluding that "these diets have failed Americans 99.5% of the time!".
But these scientific fasting Programs are extraordinarily successful for losing unnecessary weight, detoxification, regeneration, cleansing and more skillful orientation toward optimum health, plus self-empowerment to maintain the far greater health, happiness and healing power one gains doing these Programs.

Join the new social community network!
I was really amazed to find one of my school age friend at 'Myspace' after more than 20 years. And I had to admit that these online community sites are really very helpful in finding or making new friends. Its an old story but I used to make penpals, when I was in school, many years ago. And there were some penpal magazines, who did this job to offer penpal opportunities.
Now it is computer age and internet has made it very easy for everyone to make friends with a touch of button. Online social networking sites are playing the role of social networking job.
Now it is computer age and internet has made it very easy for everyone to make friends with a touch of button. Online social networking sites are playing the role of social networking job.
Online social networking has taken the world by storm, and list is quite long starting from Myspace, Facebook, Orkut, Hi5 and "3gb.biz' is an addition to this list. It is new and few hundred members are there, but as online social community networks offer a good place of meeting old friends and making new friends, the popularity of these sites is increasing.
According to a definition by "Wikipedia":
"A social network is a social structure made of nodes (which are generally individuals or organizations) that are tied by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as values, visions, idea, financial exchange, friends, kinship, dislike, conflict, trade, web links, sexual relations, disease transmission (epidemiology), or airline routes.
Research in a number of academic fields has shown that social networks operate on many levels, from families up to the level of nations, and play a critical role in determining the way problems are solved, organizations are run, and the degree to which individuals succeed in achieving their goals."

'3Gb.biz' is a new social community network where you can meet new and old friends, share photos online, albums, join groups and chat with other members.
The main purpose of the online social networking is to make a contact between the people having same interests. Members are often divided into groups or networks according to their location (geographical) or interests. So it is easy for you to find or make friends at your locality or according to your hobbies/interests.
Some facts about networking sites:
- Myspace is believed to be the world's biggest online social networking site, having over 200 million accounts.
- Facebook has an estimated number of 34 million active members.
- All the social network communities provide facility of sharing your blogs, photos and lot more.
"3gb.biz" is new site, but there is a good hope of getting exposure within some time.

Life is not always easy----- Few quotes!
Quotes are a way of giving ourselves motivation and encouragement. Here are some motivational quotes, which may give you an understanding and true meaning of life.
Truly great
Life is not always easy. And that is a major reason why it is so precious.
Many of life's best rewards are possible only because you must work your way through difficult challenges to get to them. If everything in life were easy, there would be no opportunity for real fulfillment.
If the only things you experienced were pleasure and comfort, it would be impossible for you to fully appreciate them. A life of total ease and a complete lack of challenge would be unbearably tedious.
When the next challenge comes your way, when the next obstacle blocks your progress, find it in yourself to be thankful. For the difficulties provide you with truly magnificent opportunities to create value, to find meaning and fulfillment in living.
The challenges enable you to give of yourself and to make a real difference. And that's something you desire at the deepest level.
Life is not always easy. And because of that, you have the opportunity to make it truly great.

Life's little annoyances
Don't let a relatively small setback ruin an otherwise beautiful day. Choose instead to take it in stride and quickly get back to being positive, productive and effective.
Don't waste your time being outraged or offended by someone else's careless, inconsiderate remark or gesture. Use the opportunity to strengthen your valuable sense of patience, and move on ahead to something that truly matters.
Life's little annoyances can quickly add up to have a big negative and destructive impact if you let them. Fortunately, you don't have to let them.
Instead, you can choose to let them go. You can decide to see the small, relatively meaningless annoyances for what they are, and move quickly beyond them.
Do you really want your attitude to be held hostage by rude, careless, inconsiderate people or random events beyond your control? Of course not, because within you is a positive purpose that is big and beautiful and filled with real meaning.
Each time one of life's little annoyances comes along, let it just keep on going right past you until it fades away into its own insignificance. You have plenty of much more positive and valuable things upon which to focus your attention.
(By- Ralph Marston)
Weakness into strength By recognizing and admitting your own weaknesses, you begin to move beyond them. When you're clear and honest about what you need to work on, you can make real progress.
When you identify a weakness, you've found an opportunity. By exploring what's holding you back, you can create a realistic and workable path to success.
Weakness is nothing to hide from or to be ashamed of. For in each weakness is the promise of real strength.
From each weakness there is much that you can learn. By understanding your limitations, you can find a way around them.
Instead of constantly fighting against your weaknesses, work on getting rid of them completely. Then all your time and energy can be put into moving quickly ahead.
Have the courage to look clearly at your weaknesses. What you'll see in each one is the potential to create powerful, effective new strength.
